Simon Franco was a dear friend and colleague to many here at CA who sadly passed away this June. He was a Senior Programmer on Alien Isolation as well as having worked on many Total War games over his 10 year employment with us.
Simon was a big Magic the Gathering enthusiast, with a passion for creating retro games in spare time as well as being a dedicated father who sadly didn’t get to meet his youngest daughter before he passed. He was positive, kind and always had a time for anyone that asked for it.
We were all deeply saddened by his sudden passing earlier this year and to commemorate his life, work, and passion for retro gaming we’re hosting a weekendlong GameJam in his honor.
FrancoJam will pit small teams of CA staff members against each other in a two day contest to create a whole game. The judges panel will consist of Simon’s close friends and family as well as Sprungdigi ambassador Darius who will influence the theme of the event.
The theme will be announced on Friday evening and the proceeds of the charity page and the auction with Alien Isolation and Total War goodies will go to The Royal Surrey County Hospital who cared for Simon in his final days. If you wish to donate you can click the link below.

We’ll also have a live stream running alongside the event for 48 hours as well as a charity auction with tons of exclusive signed goodies from a collection of CA’s different games, Steam keys and sleep deprived devs so stop on by and support a cause that is very close to our hearts!
